Abstract
Edith Stein's philosophy analyzes the phenomenon of "joy" as a sentimental experience linked to rational aspects. With this background and from the prism of the phenomenology of religion, is carried out an investigation about the phenomenon of joy present in some religions: Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism. Starting from some religious celebrations and their religious foundations, the central ideas of each religion can be presented. Special attention is paid on the "nocturnal celebrations" of these five religions selected.
