Abstract




The present article analyzes the concept of hybrid novel –proposed by Macarena Areco in her doctoral thesis Novel Hybrid Transatlantic– about the book by Jorge Volpi It will not be the earth. The hybrid novel is defined as a type of novel whose best feature is the incorporation into its structure of a juxtaposition of literary subgenres, coming from both popular and canonical culture, such as the police subgenre, the serial, the historical novel, of learning and biographical, among others, also incorporating fea- tures associated with fragmentation, intertextuality and metaliterature. Based on this definition, this work proposes that the novel by the Mexican author corresponds to the characteristics attributed to this type of texts, which makes it possible to dismantle the anchylosed traditional structure of the novel, proposing a new way of develop your writing.
