Abstract

In Chile, regionalization is defined primarily as a strategy to decentralize population, economic and administrative acttvities. Its ultima te aim is to foster a more balanced distribution of resources and increase wealtb through this process. Regionalization focuses mainly on decentralization between regions although decentralization within regions ts an important subordinate strategy, The specific aim of this paper is to identify nodes and regional subsystems capable of acting as catalysts for decentralization within the Metropolitan Region of Santiago.
